The National Garden Festival

What it is

A five week celebration (June 21-August 4, 2013) of the greater Buffalo area’s garden walks, talks, tours and events. The Festival will be like a great, green umbrella under which garden tours, the Japanese Garden, the Erie Basin Marina Gardens, the Botanical Gardens, the Rose Garden, the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmer’s Market, the Olmsted Parks, Garden Walk Buffalo, garden symposia, and new special events will be presented to garden lovers, gardening enthusiasts and culturally inclined travelers who revel in the kind of tree lined streets, Victorian architecture and locally owned shops and restaurants that are found in abundance throughout out the Buffalo region.

When people visit Buffalo, they usually are left with an impression of friendly, open, and helpful locals. Perhaps it’s that same spirit that has brought together the partners that will make this festival happen.

• Garden Tours and Walks
  Besides Garden Walk Buffalo, at least 14 other neighborhoods and townships have summer garden tours, walks, or festivals—from Lancaster to Hamburg, Lewiston to South Buffalo, including the unique BlackRock/Riverside night-lighted “Starry Night” tour.
• Bus Tours
  Tours are being planned for Urban Farms/Community Gardens/Massachusetts Avenue, area tree nurseries and arboreta, AAS Marina gardens and Botanical Gardens, etc.
